Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire are taking steps to deepen their bilateral cooperation, with ambitions to enhance their partnership in various sectors such as trade and investment. Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm emphasized the importance of their growing relationship, noting that Côte d’Ivoire achieved the status of Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Africa by 2025. He urged the need for both countries to diversify and expand their trade beyond the traditional commodities of cashew nuts and rice.
The Vietnamese government is advocating for increased investment collaboration in numerous areas. These include agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and infrastructure. Additionally, Vietnam is focusing on mineral processing and the burgeoning electric vehicle industry as potential fields for mutual investment.
On the other hand, Côte d’Ivoire is keen on attracting Vietnamese businesses and is eager to broaden its cooperative efforts across the West African region. The discussions between the two nations also highlighted the importance of enhancing parliamentary exchanges. They aim to boost educational initiatives, workforce development, and foster people-to-people connections to strengthen their ties further.
Both countries are optimistic about the potential for expanded cooperation, recognizing the mutual benefits that can be harnessed from building on their existing trade relationship. As they look to the future, Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire are committed to exploring new avenues for collaboration that will contribute to the prosperity and development of both nations.
