During his address at the 81st session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized the need for United Nations reform and enhanced multilateral cooperation to restore trust and give all countries a meaningful voice in global affairs. Anutin underscored the importance of cooperation and dialogue in achieving peace, not merely the absence of conflict.

Focusing on regional issues, Anutin advocated for dialogue to resolve disputes between Thailand and Cambodia. He highlighted the significance of maritime discussions under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, particularly regarding maritime delimitation. This approach, he suggested, could lead to more peaceful and productive outcomes.

Furthermore, Anutin reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to supporting peace and national reconciliation in Myanmar. He also addressed the broader need for peaceful approaches in conflicts like the situation in Palestine, stressing that dialogue and cooperation are essential for lasting peace.

This address reflects Thailand’s broader stance on international cooperation and peaceful dispute resolution, aligning with its diplomatic efforts within the region and globally. Anutin’s call for reform at the U.N. highlights a desire for a more inclusive and effective international organization capable of addressing complex global issues through collaboration and mutual respect.
