Heavy Rainfall Expected in Thailand, Raising Flood Risk in Southern Regions

Thailand is bracing for increased rainfall from October 5 to 8, with the northeastern and northern regions expected to be the first to experience a significant uptick in precipitation. This shift in weather conditions is linked to changes in monsoon patterns and winds over the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, and surrounding areas.

As the new rainfall pattern sets in, cooler temperatures are anticipated in parts of the Northeast. Meanwhile, upper Thailand may see fewer showers in the immediate period, although isolated thunderstorms remain a possibility.

In southern Thailand, heavy rainfall is forecasted, raising concerns about potential flooding and hazards, particularly in areas already affected by accumulated rain. These conditions necessitate vigilance from local communities and authorities to mitigate potential risks.

The maritime sector has been advised to exercise caution, with moderate waves expected in the upper Andaman Sea. During thunderstorms, waves could become more severe, prompting marine operators to avoid regions experiencing adverse weather conditions.
