In a recent meeting held in Hanoi, representatives from Vietnam and Japan have pledged to enhance cooperation between their respective ruling parties and legislative bodies. The discussions involved Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official from the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing progress of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and committed to intensifying political dialogue and parliamentary exchanges, building on the momentum from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam earlier this year.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc underscored Vietnam’s robust economic growth and the nation’s continuous efforts in administrative reforms. He suggested that Japan could play a pivotal role by sharing its expertise in local governance and decentralization, which would be invaluable to Vietnam’s institutional development. Furthermore, he called for expanded collaboration in various sectors including human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
Moreover, the Vietnamese delegation advocated for stronger ties between the parliamentary friendship groups of both nations and emphasized the importance of fostering exchanges among younger lawmakers. They also requested Japan’s continued support for the Vietnamese community living there and proposed initiatives to simplify visa procedures. The long-term objective is to establish a visa-free travel arrangement for Vietnamese citizens visiting Japan.
Hagiuda Koichi expressed his support for deepening bilateral relations and assured that Japan’s LDP and parliament remain committed to promoting exchanges and collaborative projects in advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy. This commitment signals a mutual interest in tackling modern challenges through joint efforts, reflecting the countries’ dedication to enhancing their strategic partnership.
