Vietnam and France have underscored their intention to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by enhancing cooperation across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. During discussions held in Hanoi, both nations took stock of the advancements made in their bilateral relations and resolved to expedite the execution of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam emphasized the importance of bolstering collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, and critical minerals. It also highlighted major infrastructure projects as a key area for cooperation. Additionally, Vietnam urged France to hasten the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue advocating for the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which impacts trade.
France, on its part, articulated its view of Vietnam as a vital strategic partner within the Asia-Pacific region. The French government expressed a keen interest in broadening cooperation in fields like nuclear energy, rare earth materials, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. France also emphasized the potential for enhanced collaboration in healthcare and cultural exchanges, reflecting a broad-based approach to strengthening ties.
Both countries committed to enhancing their coordination on regional and global issues and highlighted their shared dedication to promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This commitment reflects a mutual understanding of the importance of working together to address both regional challenges and global concerns.
