In a bid to bolster economic ties and attract substantial foreign investments, Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn recently engaged with key leaders of South Korean business giants during his visit to Seoul. His agenda emphasized the expansion of investments in high-tech sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and sustainable energy. Mẫn’s meetings with top executives from major conglomerates such as Samsung, SK Group, LG Innotek, and Lotte Group underscore Vietnam’s strategic focus on advanced technology and digital transformation.
At a meeting with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn acknowledged Samsung’s significant role in Vietnam’s economy, highlighting the company’s contributions through investment, job creation, and support for local businesses. He urged Samsung to further their investments in high-tech sectors, aligning with Vietnam’s economic goals. Roh assured that Samsung would continue to support Vietnam’s development priorities, focusing on digital transformation, technological innovation, and workforce upskilling. The company has been instrumental in aiding Vietnamese enterprises through initiatives such as smart factory automation and skills development programs.
Mẫn’s discussions with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won centered on the potential for increased investment in semiconductors, AI, and renewable energy technologies. He expressed enthusiasm for SK’s initiative to establish a large-scale AI center in Vietnam, along with plans to explore investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers. This highlights Vietnam’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies into its economic framework.
In talks with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, Mẫn highlighted LG Group’s substantial investment exceeding $10 billion in Vietnam. He advocated for deeper collaboration with Vietnamese suppliers and emphasized the importance of advancing technology and skills development. LG Innotek acknowledged Vietnam’s pivotal role in its global production network, indicating ongoing support for local industry growth.
The discussions extended to Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, where Mẫn encouraged further investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. He urged Lotte to expedite major projects with a strong emphasis on sustainability, green development, and adherence to ESG standards.
