Rupert Grint is once again stepping into the shoes of Ron Weasley in the Broadway adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks his return to the iconic role after more than a decade since the Harry Potter film series wrapped up. Grint will be part of the stage production for a 17-week stint starting in February 2027. His portrayal of Ron Weasley alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in the eight-film series helped catapult him to fame.
Reflecting on his return, Grint expressed excitement about revisiting Ron, a character he has been connected to since he was 11. He noted that playing Ron as a father at this stage in his life adds both a familiar and fresh perspective to the role. Grint’s comeback to the wizarding world follows the recent appearance of Tom Felton, who reprised his role as Draco Malfoy in the same Broadway production. Felton is set to continue on stage until January.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child initially premiered in London in 2016 before expanding to several international locations. The play has been a massive success, selling over 14 million tickets globally. In New York alone, the production has grossed more than $532 million, cementing its status as a major theatrical hit.
Although Grint is best known for his role in the Harry Potter series, he made his Broadway debut back in 2014 with the comedy It’s Only a Play. Since then, he has taken on various acting projects, including roles in films like Knock at the Cabin, Charlie Countryman, and Nightborn.
